Grant Recipients

The Winkler Community Foundation impacting our community through Grants2016-grants

The Winkler Community Foundation  distributed a total of $90,644 in grants for 2016. Recipients were invited to a grant cheque presentation at the Winkler City Hall on October 6, 2016. WCF Board Members Scott Doell and Mayor Martin together with Executive Director Myra Peters presented cheques to grant recipients.

The Winkler Community Foundation is excited to be celebrating 20 years of granting. Over the past 20 years, the Winkler Community Foundation board has had the privilege of approving over $1 million worth of grants for projects to impact our community. 20 years ago, the first grants approved totaled $5,500. Today, we are granting $90,644.

Each year, the community foundation receives gifts in the form of donations and bequests that help to grow the community foundation’s endowment funds. These gifts are invested and the interested earned annually is granted back into our community. Therefore the gift is never spent but rather it gives back to the community year after year. Those early donations made to the Winkler Community Foundation are still granting back into our community today.
