Winkler Community Foundation awards $40,000 in grants through the Emergency Community Support Fund

[Winkler, July 20, 2020] – The Winkler Community Foundation awarded $40,000 in grants to 7 local charities; Central Station, South Central Regional Library, Boundary Trails Health Care Foundation, Pembina Counselling Centre, Gateway Resources, Segue Career Choices and Regional Connections to address counselling, digital communication and programming, and weekly community meal programming needs. The grants announced are part of the Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF), funded by the Government of Canada.
The ECSF is a $350 million fund that is being implemented with Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, and United Way Centraide Canada, in partnership with local foundations across the country. Its goal is to provide support to charities and non-profit organizations serving vulnerable Canadians.

“It’s a satisfying feeling to see committed community organizations receive support through the Foundation.” – James Friesen, WCF Board Member

The Winkler Community Foundation is proud to have partnered with Community Foundations of Canada and the Government of Canada to deliver the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) in Winkler.

Our community foundation has granted the full funding available to our community through the ECSF. We are unfortunately no longer accepting applications. Since the start of the pandemic, charities and non-profit organizations have been leading the charge to assist those who need it most in the fight against COVID-19. We know the need for funding is still significant. We invite you to follow Community Foundations of Canada’s website for further updates.

Pay It Forward May

Pay it Forward is something we can and should be doing all year round. The Winkler Community Foundation and Morden Area Foundation has chosen one month to be more active in our efforts – not because we have to, but because we want to. Not because we’ve experienced kindness from others, but because we want to work together to make our community strong and vibrant. Pay it Forward. Inspire others. Impact our Community.
