Grant Deadline – April 15, 2018

The 2018 Grant Application deadline for grants promoting and supporting community initiatives in and around Winkler is April 15, 2018. Grants will be announced in June with funds disbursed thereafter.

The Grants Committee is looking to support community programs and projects within the community. Projects and programs being applied for should only start after the June grant announcement.

Preference is given to projects which:

We currently have 3 grant programs available:

Smart & Caring Community Fund Grants – This grant program supports: Arts, Culture & Recreation, Family & Community Services, Health, Environment, Education, Heritage, and Leadership. Our community grants support projects under that broad canopy including shelter, sustenance and care for those most in need, to recreation, the arts, and the environment for the benefit of all.

2014 Sport Legacy Fund Grants – The purpose of the fund is to provide opportunities for promotion and enhancement of sport leadership and/or sport development within the City of Winkler and RM of Stanley.

Darlene Gale Peters Endowment Fund Grants – The purpose of this fund is to support health related grants. This includes health education programs and support programs/initiatives in the City of Winkler and surrounding area.

WES YIP give back

Winkler Elementary School ran Youth in Philanthropy as an Exploratory program during the 2020-21 school year. They had a group of grade 8 students participate. As a part of the program, the students ran a Valentine’s Day themed fundraiser by selling boxes of smarties. They felt the smarties could share some “joy” during a COVID Valentine’s. The girls designed to and from tags for the students to send the smarties to friends aor siblings in the school. The money raised during the YIP exploratory program was matched by the Winkler Community Foundation. Thanks to the student’s efforts and the Foundation’s match, a grant of $669 was awarded to Gateway Resources. This grant has been designated for Gateway’s Life Skills Program to add tactile and sensory box resources. “We decided to raise money for the Gateway Life Skills Program because we believe everyone should have an equal opportunity to contribute to the community and do what they love!” – Karli, BYNN and Bria grade 8 YIP students from WES.   The Winkler Community Foundation loves seeing students engage in philanthropic activities. Deadline: January 31, 2022. All current Make It A Reality scholarship recipients and Ongoing Education Support scholarship recipients must submit scholarship renewal form to qualify.
