At the end of August, we had the opportunity to match many of our first-year university students with returning students in a Peer-to-Peer program. The purpose of the program is to connect first-year Gordon Wiebe Award recipients with an experienced student, attending the same institution and ideally the same faculty, who is also a Gordon Wiebe Award recipient.

The goal is to connect new students with someone who can understand what they are going through. They can help navigate with systems, spaces or emotions that arise during the transition to urban life as a post-secondary student. They can support with managing change. And hopefully, they can be someone to ask the seemingly obvious but important questions.

We want to see all students succeed. This is one way the Winkler Community Foundation can support our Gordon Wiebe Award recipients.
