The 2023 Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge in November was a great success for the Winkler Community Foundation. Thanks to the generous community support, we raised $98,242 for the Community Fund (with additional gifts received for other funds not included in the stretching opportunity). Gifts made to the Winkler Community Foundation are pooled and permanently invested, and interest earned is granted to local initiatives each year. Since the capital is never spent, your gifts support the community forever.
“The Winkler Community Foundation has been participating in the Giving Challenge since it began 10 years ago now,” says Myra Peters, Executive Director of the Winkler Community Foundation. “During this time, our community has rallied behind us, and not only individual donors but with local businesses have participated in a major way. This year was another success and in the decade of Giving Challenges we have raised a total of $610,615 for our community fund, achieving our goal of growing the fund to over $1 million.”
Thanks to this community support, our foundation is able to help a wide variety of local charitable projects each year. The Winkler Community Foundation plays a vital, lasting role in all aspects of life in Winkler. We make grants to a wide variety of worthy causes –from grants supporting Central Station and the Winkler Food Cupboard to recreation facilities and local daycare programs to professional counselling and senior programming and much, much more –that improves life for all of us. You can be confident your gift will have a lasting impact on our COMMUNITY.
We want to extend a special THANK-YOU to Province of Manitoba, Endow Manitoba and our business community including the City of Winkler, Elias Woodwork, Access Credit Union, Jim Smith Accounting, Serious Marketing, Triple E, Winkler Concrete, Protec Plumbing and Heating, Kroeker Farms, Heat Master, Parkland Place, Southern Potato, Green Valley Equipment and Sun Valley Tire for their stretching sponsorship.
